Cuisine in the USA: More Than Fast Food and With Many Favorite Food Days

The United States represents a rich and diverse mix of people, religions, and cultures, and this diversity is reflected in the cuisine, too. Each region has its own style of preparation or specialty dish, and each dish has a history that’s intertwined with both geography and people.

In the Northeast, you’ll see an abundance of seafood dishes, especially in New England, where lobster and shellfish are favorites. The more you go south, the heavier and richer the local specialties are. Pork and chicken are an integral part of many dishes, as are corn, peas, and rice. Grilled and fried chicken with countless variations is also very popular.

In Louisiana, traditional dishes are part of Cajun and Creole cuisine, so get ready for lots of spicy sauces and seafood. The Midwest is generally known as the part of the country where most of the bread is produced, due to the seemingly endless fields of corn, soybeans, and wheat.

As we go west and south, Mexican influences are becoming increasingly apparent in local cuisine with beef, beans, and rice as some of the main ingredients. In California, one of the basics in dishes is the widely available avocado.

The United States has numerous food days that reflect their favorite dishes. Combining Instagram hashtag data and Google search volume, this created a unique scoring system that has revealed the most popular national food days in the USA.
