Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™ and Auto Show™ to Appear in Rome, Georgia
Wings Over North Georgia Air Show Officials Announce Additional Attractions
Rome, Georgia (September 14, 2012) The Wings Over North Georgia Air Show will host the Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™ and Auto Show™. The air show will feature the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and the Black Diamond Jet Team and will take place at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Rome, Georgia September 28 – 30. Admission to the Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™ and Auto Show™ is included with any ticket purchase to the air show. Advance purchase general admission tickets start at $13 for adults and $10 for youth and military personnel.
“These are huge additions to an already large-scale event,” said John Cowman, president of JLC Air Show Management. “We are thrilled to bring all the best entertainment to one place. Not only do we have an air show, but we also have a barbeque competition and we have an auto show. There is something here that everyone in the family can enjoy.”
The Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™ will challenge more than 100 professional and amateur barbeque competitors from across the country to show off their best recipes. Both the professional division and backyard division competitors are required to create chicken, pork and pork ribs recipes, while the professional division must also create an additional beef brisket recipe. The competitors will battle it out in front of the crowds for the total prize purse of $19,500 and a prestigious title as the winner of the Smoke-n-Thunder Barbeque Classic™.
The Smoke-n-Thunder Auto Show™ will draw in automobile enthusiasts to admire more than 500 unique show cars brought in from throughout the Southeastern United States. Ten competition categories will exist for competitors to enter their cars. The categories include: Pre-1960; 1960-1970; 1980-1999; 2000-current; Truck, SUV & Van; Factory Muscle Cars; Custom & Rods; Rat Rods; Mini Trucks; and Special Interest automobiles. Competitors will compete for a total prize purse of $7,500.
Experienced, certified judges from the Georgia Street Rod Association (GSRA) and the International Show Car Association (ISCA) will judge each individual show car entry. Each show car may only be entered into one of the ten categories.
