A message from Jack Daniel’s
The 24th Annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue begins in just a few weeks, and this year more than 70 championship barbecue teams from around the world have earned their spot to compete. The 19 international teams represent countries including Germany, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Canada.
· To qualify, domestic teams must have won a state championship with at least 25 teams or a competition with more than 50 teams. In addition, the 2011 Jack Daniel’s world grand champion, and 2012 winners of Memphis in May, the American Royal Open (Kansas City) and Houston’s World Championship Bar-B-Que receive automatic berths.
· On October 26 -27, about 25,000 spectators will descend on Lynchburg to watch the spectacle, and competitors will smoke 3,900 pounds of meat – only the best will be dressed up and served to the pavilion of Kansas City Barbeque Society and celebrity judges for a chance to win more than $30,000 in cash and prizes.
